it's sad that i keep on comparing the life here now with how it was in japan.

i was shopping at ntuc the other day. after standing on the queue for pretty long, it was finally my turn. to my horror, the cashier suddenly put a sign of 'cashier is closed, please choose other lane'! or something around that line (can't remember the exact words). i looked at the other lanes, they were all full of people...
i certainly didn't have the time to queue from the beginning again so i pleaded with the cashier to just let me pay for my item (which was only one box of grapes), how hard could it be? i've already queued for soo long and by the way she shouldn't just put a sign like that and expected me to find another lane to queue all over again. what in the world?
the worst thing is the fact that she gave me super irritated look and unwillingness.

at this moment, i had a flash back on the lovely cashiers that i encountered through out my japan trip. they were all full of smiles, extremely super duper polite, they even bowed down (naturally since they're japanese) and yes some of their faces glowed, brimming with joy. no joke. paying has always been quite a pleasant experience.
superb customer service.

i am sad to realize that the ppl in singapore are very unhappy and unfriendly, mostly can be found in mrt stations and any crowded places.

shouldn't we start smiling at one another and be polite?

i wonder if it's because of the weather. hot weather makes one unhappy.
