it is finished. we all can sleep now.

i woke up with a very painful red left eye on sun morning, could hardly open it and just gotta endure it through out the ss. went home straight after that to sleep, nic sms me in the late afternoon checking if i was feeling better and whether i'd still want to watch the final with an eye like that. i replied her straight "ya of course, it's final and it's italy, even blind also must watch" =p
so i rested n rested and by God's grace, it was kinda healed the moment the match started.

italy won, we know this. let me say a few words in fairness.

the match started with italy playing better in first half. penalty was given to france and i thought to myself that it would be really stupid if france won just by that. italy scored for equalizer not long after that and the game back to how it started.
france played better in second half. they were fierce. there were many shots on goal and you just have to admit that france does have the quality to become champion. too bad for them, azzurri's cannavaro is one of the best defender you could ever find, thus no goal was scored.

match was dragged to extra time (OT) and somehow the memories of euro 2000 kept coming back to me, especially after substitutions were made where trezeguet and wiltord brought into the field.. these two scored the equalizer and golden goal in 2000.
no goals though and buffon made one very good safe, he is just fantastic.

i was very much saddened with zidane being sent off due to the head-butt. it's just so foolish of him. think again calmly somehow i do believe that maybe he's being provoked BUT as a world class player, you gotta keep your head cool as long as you are on the field. this is a basic knowledge, especially in such an important match.
a moment of anger resulted a life time shame, just not worth it. nevertheless rather than remembering his mistake, we should remember him as a brilliant player cos he really is.

match was brought into penalty kick shoot out and i found myself pacing up and down in my room. the moment italy scored the 5th goal and thus winning the worldcup, i just broke down and cried. i cried and cried and cried, the happiness was beyond words. i think i am really mad, who on earth would cry for a soccer team? me.
i don't even cry for friends, i guess that shows how fanatic i am.
italy is my one and only team since ages ago and it will remain forever no matter how good and bad they will be, even if they all shave their head bald, even if all the players retired and replaced by new ones. i never jump ship and i'm proud for it.

just to clarify somethin, i hope everyone can remember that this is soccer we're talking about, not ping-pong competition.
in soccer, clashes and fouls happen all the time as 22 players are fighting only for one ball. i understand that sometimes we may feel that a match is not fair whenever a card is shown, a penalty or free kick is awarded or not, a player sent off etc etc, but referee is absolute and we all have to swallow it. this is how the game played.
remember maradona's hand of God in 1986? (all soccer freaks should know this) lolx.

besides how do you determine whether it is fair or not, sometimes it's your own judgmental mind. things may not be as what you see. ppl are entitled to comment and judge but you just cannot be a sore loser.
france played well. italy played well as well. both are champions but it was just not meant for france last nite.

azzurri, you've done me proud.
-this is the end of world cup chapters in my blog-
